Salzburg and Paris Saint-Germain are both in need of an upturn in results as they meet in Austria on Matchday 6 of the UEFA Champions League.
The home side have three points, from a 3-1 victory at Feyenoord on Matchday 4, but went down 5-0 at Bayer Leverkusen in their last fixture.
Paris also have a single win this season, a 90th-minute own goal giving them a 1-0 success at home to debutants Girona on Matchday 1, and have lost three of their four subsequent fixtures, going down 1-0 at Bayern München on Matchday 5.

Nenê, Mathieu Bodmer and Jérémy Menez all found the net in Paris's Matchday 1 victory, Ibrahim Sekagya registering a late Salzburg consolation, but it was a different story in Austria on Matchday 5 thanks to goals from Jakob Jantscher and Dušan Švento – a result that proved decisive in them advancing at the expense of Paris after the teams had finished level on ten points.

A 0-4 home defeat by Brest on Matchday 2 made it successive losses against French clubs for Salzburg, who have been beaten in three of their last five games against Ligue 1 teams (W2).
Salzburg's previous games against Ligue 1 opponents came in the 2021/22 Champions League group stage, when they won 2-1 at home to LOSC Lille but lost 0-1 away.
That Matchday 2 defeat by Brest ended a run of three successive victories at home to French visitors, the only other defeat a 0-1 reverse to Nice in the 2016/17 Europa League group stage.
Having not featured in the Champions League group stage between 1994 and 2019, Salzburg are making their sixth successive appearance in the competition proper.
The Austrian side were fourth in Group D in 2023/24, picking up four points in a section that also included Real Sociedad, Inter Milan and Benfica.
A 2-1 Matchday 5 loss to Chelsea in 2022/23 ended the Austrian club's seven-match unbeaten home run in the Champions League (W4 D3). This season's losses to Brest (0-4) and GNK Dinamo (0-2) have made it six defeats in a row.
Salzburg started this season's Champions League campaign in the third qualifying round, beating Twente 2-1 at home before a 3-3 away draw to progress 5-4 on aggregate. They then overcame Dynamo Kyiv in the play-offs, winning 3-1 over two legs (2-0 a, 1-1 h).
The Austrian side have two wins and five defeats in their last seven home European games.
Salzburg, who appointed Pep Lijnders as head coach in May, had their run of ten successive Austrian Bundesliga titles ended by Sturm Graz in 2023/24, finishing two points behind.

Those 2011 fixtures against Salzburg are Paris's last against an Austrian club – the away defeat their only reverse.
Paris's other three games against a team from Austria all involved Rapid Wien, who they beat 1-0 in the 1996 UEFA Cup Winners' Cup final in Brussels before a 6-2 aggregate success in the 2001/02 UEFA Cup second round (4-0 h, 2-2 a).
This is Paris's 17th campaign in the Champions League proper, a new French record; they had previously been level with Lyon. They have featured every season since 2012/13, reaching the knockout stages in all 12 of those most recent campaigns.
Les Parisiens were second in their section behind Dortmund last season and beat Spanish pair Real Sociedad (4-1 aggregate) and Barcelona (6-4 aggregate) in the round of 16 and quarter-finals respectively, before losing to Dortmund (0-1 a, 0-1 h) in the last four.
The French side have lost in the last 16 in five of their last eight Champions League campaigns.
The Parisians have won 15 of their last 38 European matches (D8 L15) and have been victorious in 14 of their last 34 away Champions League fixtures (D6 L14) but have lost at Arsenal (0-2) and Bayern München (0-1) this season.
Paris claimed their 12th French title, and tenth in the last 12 seasons, in 2023/24 and also lifted the Coupe de France final for the 15th time to complete Paris's fifth domestic double.

Luis Enrique's side have lost only one league game in 2024 – 1-3 at home to Toulouse on 12 May – winning 20 and drawing ten.
