Chelsea FC captain John Terry is a doubt to face FC Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League semi-final first leg after scans revealed that the defender suffered two cracked ribs in the last-eight victory at SL Benfica.

Despite sustaining the injury on 27 March during the first leg in Portgual, Terry played an hour of the return fixture before being substituted. Chelsea went on to beat Benfica 3-1 on aggregate and set up a semi-final meeting with Barcelona, who come to Stamford Bridge on 18 April before the Camp Nou return on 24 April.

"Scans confirm that John has two cracked ribs sustained in last week's game in Portugal," read a statement on the club's website. "We have been able to manage it and will continue to do so. We will continue to monitor it on a daily basis and will assess him for upcoming games."
