Basel snap up striker

Swiss champions FC Basel 1893 have signed forward Mladen Petric from Grasshopper-Club.

Ease financial woes
The 23-year-old has signed until 2008, and it is thought that the undisclosed fee will go some way to easing Grasshopper's current financial woes. In all, he scored 31 goals in 114 games for the Zurich club, including 13 in their championship-winning season in 2003.

Third signing
Petric is the third player to move to Basel in the close-season following Australian Mile Sterjovski and Argentinian César Carignano. He has been capped five times by his country, but not since 2002. Next season Basel enter the UEFA Champions League in the third qualifying round.

Servette signings
Elsewhere, UEFA Cup participants Servette FC have signed three new players ahead of next season. The first arrival is 26-year-old goalkeeper Paolo Collaviti, who joins from BSC Young Boys where he made 122 appearances.

Other arrivals
Next up is Davide Calla, who has left FC Wil 1900 to sign a four-year-deal with Servette. The 19-year-old has been capped by Switzerland at U21 level and is a right-sided midfield player. Finally, 24-year-old Brazilian midfielder Pereira De Oliveira 'Leonardo', formerly of FC Istres in France, has agreed a three-year deal.
