Diniyar Bilyaletdinov will miss the rest of FC Spartak Moskva's UEFA Champions League Group G campaign, with the Russian international midfielder requiring surgery on an abdominal injury.
The problem meant Bilyaletdinov sat out Sunday's 2-0 Premier-Liga win against FC Krasnodar in the Russian capital, and the 27-year-old is now due to go under the knife in Germany. The former FC Lokomotiv Moskva and Everton FC man has scored three times in 11 league appearances this term as well as featuring in two of his club's UEFA Champions League group stage fixtures.
Unai Emery's team will next host FC Barcelona on 20 November, a game which may come too soon for winger Aiden McGeady and defender Sergei Parshivlyuk, though the pair have resumed light training after ankle and knee ligament injuries respectively.
