Kieran Gibbs, Arsenal defender
It's never easy playing away in the Champions League, but I felt the team controlled quite a lot of the game and I felt we deserved it and created a lot of chances. In the end, we came out on top through hard work. We kept on fighting until the end.

Our final ball was lacking and letting us down. It was frustrating because we know we've got the quality and we showed it in the end, but I feel the team can be a lot more dangerous when we have possession. It was just a case of waiting for the breakthrough and we had to wait until the final minute. But this is the Champions League and you have to wait sometimes and be patient. We're in a better position now in the group and we want to keep progressing. It's a massive result and we don't want to let that slip.

Arsène Wenger, Arsenal manager
Anderlecht played very well, were well organised, very focused, very quick in transition. We controlled the game in the first half without creating many chances. In the second half we were counterattacking a bit more.

Gibbs on 'massive win' for Arsenal

I think the turning point was when we did not concede the second goal; they had a good chance but didn't take it. In the end, the quality of the players who came on and our experience made the difference. It is a bit unexpected to take three points considering how well Anderlecht played.

We know Lukas Podolski can always score a goal – he is important, he showed it tonight. Podolski has 115 caps for Germany and that is no coincidence. Next time we play Anderlecht at home, having learned a lot about them tonight. If we beat them again, we have a good chance of qualifying.

Silvio Proto, Anderlecht goalkeeper
It's a real shame to concede in the last minute. We played the match we wanted and we had more or less as many chances as Arsenal. We had an opportunity to make it 2-0 and didn't take it. It was similar to the game against Galatasaray when the same thing happened – without that, we'd have six points, but instead we have just one. We have to keep working and learn from games like this. You can't concede in the 89th and 90th minutes. To end with this result shouldn't be possible.

We have a young team that's learning. We had the support of our fans and with their backing we played some good football. We managed to keep Arsenal quiet. Before the climax, I had only a [Santi] Cazorla shot to save – which was tough – but apart from that it wasn't too difficult for us. Unfortunately we've come away with nothing and we have a right to be disappointed.

Besnik Hasi, Anderlecht coach
The performance of my team was nearly perfect except for the last three minutes. We should have won the game. In the second half we tried to use the spaces more often and to counterattack. We scored at the right moment but, at this level, if you do not score the second then you have to pay.

I am proud of my team tonight, they fought tremendously on the pitch and they showed great quality. It is very disappointing for us not to have got a point.
