Scorers of crucial goals dominate UEFA.com's UEFA Champions League team of the week, including Samir Nasri, Aymen Abdennour, Mikel San José and Lasse Schöne.

GK: Silvio Proto (RSC Anderlecht)
The Anderlecht captain made no fewer than eight saves to help earn his side a point at Borussia Dortmund, the latest in a series of fine displays. "Silvio Proto has saved us some points down the years," noted coach Besnik Hasi.

DF: Álvaro Arbeloa (Real Madrid CF)
The right-back enjoyed himself as Madrid became only the sixth team to win all six group stage games, scoring just his third UEFA Champions League goal from a late corner. He also completed 32 of his 33 attempted passes.

DF: Mikel San José (Athletic Club)
Having scored Athletic's winner at FC Shakhtar Donetsk on matchday five, the centre-back was at it again in the game to decide third place in Group H. San José swept in Markel Susaeta's 47th-minute corner to give Athletic the lead against FC BATE Borisov, and then played his part at the other end to ensure his team reached the UEFA Europa League.

DF: César (SL Benfica)
In a disappointing campaign for the Portuguese champions, the 21-year-old Brazilian played a key role in ensuring a third clean sheet in four games with a goalless draw against Group C runners-up Bayer 04 Leverkusen, making four clearances and covering almost 11km.

DF: Aymen Abdennour (AS Monaco FC)
A second UEFA Champions League appearance of the season for the Tunisian defender ended with a second clean sheet and a first goal. Abdennour headed Monaco in front in the 63rd minute against FC Zenit; seven clearances and a tackle helped preserve that advantage.

MF: Marco Höger (FC Schalke 04)
A lively performance from the midfielder was a crucial factor in the win at NK Maribor that gave Schalke second place in Group G – not least his 62nd-minute cross that was only pushed out by home goalkeeper Jasmin Handanović for Max Meyer to score the only goal of the game.

MF: Samir Nasri (Manchester City FC)
The French midfielder had only one shot at AS Roma but it proved crucial, Nasri arrowing the opening goal of the game past Morgan De Sanctis as City snatched second place in Group E. He also set up Pablo Zabaleta for the late second, his first goal and assist of this season's competition arriving at the perfect time.

MF: Shkelzen Gashi (FC Basel 1893)
A livewire presence in the Basel midfield that gained a decisive draw at Liverpool FC, the 26-year-old covered more than 12km at Anfield and was a regular threat going forward. Two solo runs into the penalty area, one shot on target, one off, and one blocked were evidence of his value to the Basel cause.

FW: Lasse Schöne (AFC Ajax)
Led from the front as Ajax cruised past APOEL FC to reach the UEFA Europa League with their first win of this season's competition. Schöne converted a penalty in first-half added time to break the deadlock, then gave Ajax breathing space by slotting in a second early in the second period.

FW: Neymar (FC Barcelona)
The Brazilian forward's third goal of this season's group stage was one to remember, Neymar picking up possession just inside the Paris half and racing away from the defence to curl a fine shot past Salvatore Sirigu. Neymar's late strike was also blocked by the goalkeeper for Luis Suárez to tap in a third goal for the home side.

FW: Lukas Podolski (Arsenal FC)
The German international strengthened his case for a regular place in the Arsenal side by registering twice on his first UEFA Champions League start of the season. He opened and finished the scoring against Galatasaray AŞ, slamming a left-footed shot into the roof of the net before neatly sliding the ball past Sinan Bolat in added time.
