We're happy because we've won the home leg and above all we performed well. We had a few defensive problems in the first half when they pressed us in midfield. It's a shame about the goal, but these things happen. In the second half we were a bit better.

[Gianluigi] Buffon hardly had a save to make. We needed this because in Serie A we're not used to playing 70 minutes without the ball and defending, but in the second half we did both. This is a step forward for a team that can do well in Europe, though we are aware of the problems we may have in the second leg.

I'm not worried about the return leg. In the Champions League, particularly at this stage, you're up against the best teams in Europe and you've got to be patient and organised in defence. You've got to find opponents' weaknesses and exploit them.

This game has done us good because you can't always dominate games; in games like these, you can dominate by not conceding and creating chances – it's just a different way of dominating.

Jürgen Klopp, Dortmund coach
There were a few situations in the first half where we could have attacked a bit better. We did well in the first half and caused Juve problems, but the goals we conceded are tough to take. We reacted well to going 1-0 down and played some good football.

Ahead of their second goal we were too passive, though. We can and must defend better in situations like those. In the second half we only had one or two opportunities, while Juve had two really good chances. From that perspective, the result is OK.

The result is fair. We did lots really, really well in the first half, but we conceded two soft goals. In the second half I had to change things early on. Juve had two big chances and I can't remember any big openings we had. If we were to lose, then we had to hold it at 2-1 and we did that, and now we move on.

We weren't surprised – Juve play this way. We just lost the ball in the wrong places and Juve hit us on the break. Nothing surprised me tonight. There wasn't more in the game for us today so we've got to accept the result.

We showed respect for Juve's quality and that led to us defending a bit deeper. The second goal was because we were too deep. To leave Morata room a few metres out is not a good idea. We conceded unnecessary goals. I don't think Juve have often been under as much pressure as we put them under, although we get nothing for that. We're still in the race after this result and that's the most important thing.

Juve are such an experienced and strong side with so much confidence that, when they have their first-choice team out, they are hard for anybody to face. But there are so many other good teams around, which is bad for them and bad for us too. We don't go home unhappy.
