Shakhtar game goes ahead

The UEFA Champions League game between FC Shakhtar Donetsk and FC Barcelona next week will go ahead.

The UEFA Champions League Group F match between FC Shakhtar Donetsk and FC Barcelona, due to be played in Donetsk on Tuesday 7 December, is to go ahead after UEFA received appropriate security guarantees from the Ukrainian authorities.

All necessary measures
The two clubs, as well as the Ukrainian and Spanish football associations, have been told by UEFA that the authorities in Ukraine have informed and assured European football's governing body that all necessary measures will be taken to ensure the match goes ahead as scheduled.

UEFA monitors situation
UEFA also said that it was well aware of the international security situation, and was closely monitoring further developments. Barcelona are second in Group F, two points behind leaders AC Milan going into this last game, while Shakhtar sit bottom, one point behind third-placed Celtic FC.
