Dreher dons his gloves again

FC Bayern München goalkeeping coach Bernd Dreher has come out of retirement with a one-year playing contract.

No second thoughts
The 38-year-old will act as back-up for Oliver Kahn and Michael Rensing, with whom he still trains regularly. "Bernd is in extremely good condition and I wouldn’t have second thoughts about fielding him," said coach Felix Magath, who reactivated the veteran custodian.

Scant match practice
Bayern signed Dreher from KFC Uerdingen 05 in 1996 after racking up 201 league appearances in six seasons, but he played just ten Bundesliga matches for the Munich giants before joining the coaching staff in 2003.

Youth responsibilities
Under head goalkeeping coach Sepp Maier, Dreher has had special responsibility for youth team players for the German champions, who enter the UEFA Champions League in September's group stage.
