Pasanen pain at calf setback

Werder Bremen defender Petri Pasanen will miss Tuesday's UEFA Champions League match against Panathinaikos FC after picking up a calf injury.

Werder Bremen defender Petri Pasanen will miss Tuesday's UEFA Champions League match against Panathinaikos FC after picking up a second injury in quick succession. The Finn damaged his left calf in training on Sunday, and will not make the trip to Athens.

'Really crazy'
The blow came as he was poised to return from concussion, sustained in Bremen's Champions League third qualifying round tie against FC Basel 1893. "It is really crazy," said coach Thomas Schaaf. "He picked up the injury in training and he will be out for at least ten days. He has no longer got any real problems when heading the ball and has almost recovered completely from that injury."
