Del Piero not heading to Highbury

A thigh injury means Juventus captain Alessandro Del Piero will miss the first leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-final match at Arsenal FC on Tuesday.

Thigh injury
The 31-year-old forward limped off with a left thigh injury in the early stages of the 1-1 draw against AS Roma yesterday. Rather than travel with the rest of the Juve squad to London, Del Piero will undergo tests early in the week to determine the full extent of his problem. "I don't think it's anything particularly serious," he said. "It's a shame, though. We'll wait and see what the tests say."

Good record
Del Piero, Juventus's all-time leading scorer, has appeared seven times in the current UEFA Champions League campaign scoring three goals. The Italian international has also scored ten goals in 26 Serie A games. In Del Piero's absence, Juventus coach Fabio Capello will start with David Trezeguet and Zlatan Ibrahimović in attack against Arsenal.
