Solid CSKA frustrate Ferreira

The FC Porto coach Jesualdo Ferreira found his first UEFA Champions League game "frustrating" as PFC CSKA Moskva defended stoutly at the Estádio do Dragão to ensure the 2004 winners only registered a point from their opening Group G match. uefa.com reviews the reaction from northern Portugal.

Jesualdo Ferreira, Porto coach
We never thought we would lose this game as we had few problems defensively. We were a bit anxious at the start and that prevented us from relaxing but after that we created enough chances to score at least one goal. CSKA were a team who allowed us the initiative and never took any risks. This game has served as good preparation for the tests to come although it was a bit frustrating not to get the result we wanted. We have to be satisfied as this is another step towards building a stronger Porto, but we know we have to work next on improving our scoring.

Valeri Gazzaev, CSKA coach
Porto are an experienced Champions League team so we expected a tough game. We also expected them to play more offensively and with more ambition as they were at home. They were better, more aggressive, than us in the opening 20 minutes, but we then found our feet and could have won the match; if our forward play was as good as our defence and midfield we would have. Our Brazilian players - Vágner Love, Daniel Carvalho and Dudu - were not as effective as they have been but they've played a lot of games recently and were feeling the effects.
