FC København coach Ståle Solbakken hailed his team after they ended their wait for a UEFA Champions League win in style by defeating Manchester United FC, who had not previously dropped a Group F point, thanks to Marcus Allbäck's 73rd-minute goal. København are now only two points adrift of second-placed Celtic FC, who a chastened United visit on Matchday 5 looking for a win that could clinch qualification in first place.

Ståle Solbakken, København coach
I am so proud of the team that they ran and fought the whole game because they could barely walk after the goal. It is great for the team, now the group is wide open because of Benfica's victory and our win. Celtic will be the favourites [in the next home match], we are looking forward to that game, these have been some of the biggest nights we have ever experienced. Yesterday I would not have put all my money on this result!

Sir Alex Ferguson, Manchester United manager
It was a difficult match and a difficult pitch, we needed 20 minutes to get into the game. After that we were controlling the game, in the second half we had a good period and created a lot of chances and I thought we could win - but then København scored and that changed the game. I have no cricitism of my players because they were tired and had a good attitude. We are focused on the Celtic game, because if we win that we win the group.

Marcus Allbäck, København goalscorer
It's great for me, it was good luck that I scored. Now we will try to go for third place, try and win one of the two next matches, because we can do this again - we have beaten United so we can beat the others.
