PSV pick up Koevermans from AZ

PSV Eindhoven have reached an agreement with AZ Alkmaar for the Netherlands striker Danny Koevermans, who will sign a four-year contract with the Dutch champions.

PSV Eindhoven have reached an agreement with AZ Alkmaar for the services of Dutch international forward Danny Koevermans, who will sign a four-year contract with the Dutch champions before the weekend.

Prolific scorer
The 28-year-old Koevermans will replaced Sevilla FC-bound Arouna Koné at the PSV Stadium, where he will wear the No10 shirt. He started his professional career with Sparta Rotterdam in 2000/01, scoring 71 goals in 110 league games over five seasons with the club before switching to AZ in summer 2005. Although he started only four Eredivisie matches in his first campaign, Koevermans was back amongst the goals in 2006/07, striking 22 in the league. It made him the second highest scorer in the Netherlands as AZ finished third and he won his first cap for his country against Slovenia in March. He underwent a medical with PSV on Thursday evening, before completing the formalities of his move at his new club's De Herdgang training centre.
