Galatasaray SK have strengthened their squad ahead of the new season by signing Gabriel Tamas from FC Dinamo Bucuresti.
Five-year deal
The 19-year-old defender has signed a five-year contract with the Turkish Super League club, who finished second behind Besiktas JK in the standings in 2002/03 and secured a place in the third qualifying round in the UEFA Champions League.
'The best I can do'
"I am happy to join a club like Galatasaray," said Tamas. "I will represent Romanian football in the best possible way that I can." The defender made 21 appearances for Dinamo team last season as the club secured sixth place in the Romanian top flight.
Pre-season preparations
Tamas will join up with his new team-mates in Copenhagen later on Saturday as Galatasaray step up their pre-season preparations. The Turkish team defeated Danish champions FC København 5-3 on penalties in the opening match of a four-team tournament in Copenhagen, and will face either Akademisk Boldklub or SBVV Vitesse in Monday's final.
