Goalkeeper Beto said it was "a dream to join a group of winners and such a great club" after confirming his move to Portuguese champions FC Porto from Leixões SC on a four-season contract.

International debut
An undisclosed fee has changed hands for the 27-year-old just a week after he made his international debut in Portugal's 0-0 friendly draw against Estonia in Tallinn. It marks the end of a terrific season for the former Sporting Clube de Portugal trainee, who starred as Leixões – from Matsinhos, a few kilometres north of Porto – finished an impressive sixth in the Liga.

'A great joy'
"It is a dream to join a group of winners and such a great club," said Beto, who played for GD Chaves and FC Marco after being released by Sporting in 2004, joining Leixões at the start of the 2006/07 season. "I am well aware of the responsibility but it will be a great joy to have the chance to represent Porto at the highest level." Porto start their 2009/10 UEFA Champions League campaign in the group stage.
