FC Schalke 04 defender Tomasz Waldoch will be out of action for at least another four weeks after breaking down in his comeback match.
First appearance since July
The former Polish international was making his first appearance since late July when he suffered a hairline fracture of the tibia. However, he lasted just 40 minutes of the match for Schalke's amateur side before the injury flared up again.
'Very disappointed'
"I'm very disappointed," said Waldoch. "I followed the doctor's instructions and was very patient." The 31-year-old retired from international football following this summer's FIFA World Cup after making 74 appearances for Poland.
UEFA Cup tie
Schalke are in UEFA Cup action on Thursday night when they host FC Gomel of Belarus in a first round second-leg match. The German Cup winners lead 4-1 from the first leg.
