Málaga CF defender Josemi will miss the resumption of his side's UEFA Cup campaign after picking up an injury against RCD Mallorca.
Strained ligaments
Málaga's club doctor, Juan Carlos Pérez Frías, confirmed that Josemi had strained ligaments in his right knee during Sunday's game and faces at least a month out of action, ruling him out of Primera División games against RC Recreativo de Huelva, Rayo Vallecano and Valencia CF.
UEFA Cup date
Josemi, who plays on the right of midfield, will also sit out the home leg of the UEFA Cup fourth-round tie against AEK Athens FC on 20 February. If his recuperation is speedier than expected, Josemi may be available for selection for the away leg in Greece the following week.
