Parma AC have signed Marcello Castellini from Bologna FC for an undisclosed fee.
The 30-year-old defender, who has signed a three-year contract, previously played for Parma between 1994 and 1996, although he made only 17 appearances in his two years at the Stadio Ennio Tardini. Castellini has also played for AC Perugia and UC Sampdoria, before confirming his reputation as a solid defender during his three years with Bologna.
Bologna coach Francesco Guidolin was disappointed with Castellini's departure. "It is a big loss for us," he said. "He's a great player and a fantastic person. We will miss him. However I wish him all the best for this new adventure with an ambitious club."
Parma will play in the UEFA Cup after finishing sixth in Serie A last season, which marks the 13th successive season that the club have qualified for European competition.
