Anigo's men begin to believe

Olympique de Marseille coach José Anigo admitted his team can now start "dreaming of winning the UEFA Cup".

Olympique de Marseille coach José Anigo said his team could start to dream of winning the UEFA Cup after FC Internazionale joined Liverpool FC in falling victim to the French side in the competition.

Final dream
Camel Meriem's breakaway goal late in the game, handing the away side a 2-0 advantage overall, sparked scenes of wild celebration among the Marseille supporters inside the San Siro and led Anigo to say: "We have defeated Liverpool and now Inter and it's fantastic. Now everything is allowed, even to dream of winning the cup.

'We still respect Inter'
"Tonight we went out to not concede goals and we defended well. I believe that we had the match under control. Then in the second half we also managed to score and then came close to scoring again. But we still have a lot of respect for Inter. They are a great side and this makes our result even more important."

Newcastle next
In the semi-final Marseille will face Newcastle United FC and will be confident of inflicting more disappointment on English opposition if they continue to show such defensive resolution. Their organisation and commitment at the back eventually silenced the San Siro crowd.

Drogba available
They will also have goalscorer Didier Drogba back after he missed this game through suspension. However, Anigo was full of praise for Ahmed Hossam 'Mido' who came in to assume solo striking duties and toiled hard for his team all night long. "Mido has done exactly what I asked him to do," added Anigo. "I admire his mental approach to the game but all the team played well.

Contrasting form
The coach tried to explain why his team have done so well in the UEFA Cup while making little impact in their domestic league, where they sit 16 points off the leaders in sixth place. "I believe the main difference is that in the UEFA Cup you always need to be concentrated while in the league we sometimes lack a bit of motivation and when we play without concentration and motivation you risk losing against any team."

Fresh start required
Inter coach Alberto Zaccheroni said he would now be looking for his team to "restart" their season again after the disappointment of going out of the competition. "We did it after the [UEFA] Champions League and again in the Coppa Italia and we must do so again now," he said.

'We played a good match'
"I think we played a good match tonight. We lacked a little bit of faith in ourselves in the first half but Marseille were never dangerous while we had chances to score. In the second half we had to risk things because we needed a goal. Actually I was just waiting for us to score when they broke away and scored instead. From our free-kick they went away and got the goal."

Plans disrupted
Zaccheroni explained that his planning had been disrupted by last-minute injuries: "I prepared for the match thinking about a lineup but then had to change it really late." The coach was without Christian Vieri through a head injury sustained last weekend and that meant a call-up for Julio Cruz "even though he had not been training for 12 days". Zaccheroni went on: "I had no other option. Then Matías Almeyda got injured in the first half and I had to replace him with Emre Belözoglu even though he has only just returned from a long-term injury."
