VfB Stuttgart have further bolstered their defence in preparation for next season's UEFA Cup campaign by signing Austrian international Martin Stranzl from relegated TSV 1860 München for an undisclosed fee.
International experience
The 24-year-old - who played 96 Bundesliga matches for 1860 and scored four goals since joining them in 1997 - has won 18 caps for his country. He will make the move with a year earlier than initially intended, as the transfer had originally been planned for the end of next season.
Defensive changes
The swoop follows the signing of Lille OSC defender Mathieu Delpierre and the departure of Brazilian defender Marcelo Bordon to FC Schalke 04 last week.
