Demo delight for GAK

Grazer AK have signed Slovakian international Igor Demo on a free transfer from VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Two-year contract
The 29-year-old has agreed a two-year contract with the Austrian Bundesliga runners-up, who will compete in the 2005/06 UEFA Cup. Demo played 142 league games over six seasons with Mönchengladbach, but fell out of favour under former coach Dick Advocaat and managed just seven matches last term. His previous clubs include FC Nitra, ŠK Slovan Bratislava and PSV Eindhoven.

New man in charge
The transfer represents the first act of new GAK president Harald Sükür's reign. Sükür has taken over from Rudi Roth, who stepped down after four successful years in charge which saw the construction of a new training ground and a league-and-cup double triumph in 2003/04.

Coaching addition
Joining Mönchengladbach, meanwhile, is former Norwegian international Jörn Andersen as the German club's new assistant coach. "We wanted to have a strong coaching team and that is why we contacted Jörn Andersen. I am sure we have found a capable coach," said club manager Peter Pander.
