Petach-Tikva suffer Toema setback

Maccabi Petach-Tikva FC could be without Salim Toema for much of their UEFA Cup campaign after the Israeli international broke his leg at the weekend.

Fractured leg
The 26-year-old sustained the injury after colliding with goalkeeper Itzhak Korenfain during Petach-Tikva's 2-1 defeat by Beitar Jerusalem FC on Saturday. He still linked up with the Israel squad for Saturday's FIFA World Cup qualifier against the Faroe Islands, before withdrawing with a stomach muscle complaint. Further tests then revealed a fracture to his left leg.

Ill-timed setback
His loss will be a blow for Petach-Tikva on the day they discovered their opponents for their upcoming debut in the UEFA Cup group stage. After shocking FK Partizan in the first round, Guy Luzon's side have been drawn in Group B alongside FC Lokomotiv Moskva, RCD Espanyol, US Città di Palermo and Brøndby IF.
