Rangers FC's Scottish international winger Chris Burke will be sidelined for three months as he requires surgery for a shoulder injury sustained in last weekend's derby defeat at Celtic FC.
Injury plagued
The 22-year-old damaged ligaments in his left shoulder in a heavy challenge with an opponent and, according to Rangers, "will not play again this year". He will miss the UEFA Cup group stage should Rangers progress against Norwegian club Molde FK, as well as Scotland's UEFA EURO 2008™ qualifiers against France and Ukraine in October. For Burke, who has made 67 league appearances for Rangers, it is a third injury setback this season after he hurt the same ankle in both pre-season and then a late August friendly.
