UEFA Cup contenders Wisła Kraków have suffered a double blow after learning that Arkadiusz Głowacki and Jacob Burns have been ruled out of action for six weeks.
Unlucky Głowacki
Poland defender Głowacki sustained a thigh injury while on international duty on Monday, and the predicted six-week lay-off will leave him sidelined for Wisła's first two UEFA Cup Group E matches against Blackburn Rovers FC and AS Nancy-Lorraine on 19 October and 2 November respectively. The 27-year-old also misses Poland's UEFA EURO 2008™ qualifiers against Kazakhstan and Portugal this week, with his availability for the Belgium game on 15 November also in doubt.
Burns verdict
Głowacki will be joined on the treatment table for a similar timescale by Australian team-mate Burns. The 28-year-old former Leeds United AFC midfielder picked up a groin problem in the 1-1 Ekstraklasa draw at GKS Górnik Łęczna on 17 September.
