Despite moving on from FC Honka to Norwegian outfit Fredrikstad FK before the end the campaign, Vuorinen was the Veikkausliiga's top scorer with 16 goals from 17 league matches last season. However, the 22-year-old found first-team opportunities hard to come by at Fredrikstad and, after making just one start and six appearances as a substitute in Norway, was glad to revive his career with HJK, who have moved to replace Farid Ghazi. Algerian striker Ghazi retired from professional football in June for family reasons. HJK host FC Etzella Ettelbrück of Luxembourg in the first leg of the UEFA Cup first qualifying round on 19 July.
