Nigeria international Peter Odemwingie has joined FC Lokomotiv Moskva from LOSC Lille Métropole in a reported €10m transfer.

San Siro goal
The 26-year-old striker, who has signed a three-year contract with the Russian club, returns to the city where he grew up after three years in northern France. Odemwingie scored 23 goals in 75 league games for Les Dogues and added three more in Europe, including one at San Siro in December in victory against AC Milan that earned Lille a place in the first knockout round of the UEFA Champions League for the first time. His most productive season in Ligue 1 came in 2005/06 when he was the French top flight's second highest scorer with 14 goals.

Russian background
Odemwingie's father is Nigerian and his mother Russian and he took his first steps in the professional game in the youth academy of Lokomotiv's rivals PFC CSKA Moskva. Odemwingie moved to Benin City in Nigeria and the Bendel Insurance club before returning to Europe with Belgian side RAA Louvièroise during the 2002/03 season. He joined Lille two years later and has scored five times in 15 appearances for Nigeria. The signing of Odemwingie, who holds a Russian passport, is a real coup for Lokomotiv who will enter the UEFA Cup first round after winning the Russian Cup last season.
