Betis make Somoza move

Leandro Somoza has moved from Villarreal CF to Real Betis Balompié on loan for the upcoming season while striker Francisco Maldonado leaves the club.

Villarreal CF's Leandro Somoza has been loaned out to Real Betis Balompié for the upcoming season in Spain, with the Seville-based club having the option of buying the central midfielder for €4.5m if the move proves a success.

Movement at Betis
UEFA Cup hopefuls Villarreal signed the 26-year-old Argentinian international from CA Vélez Sarsfield in the player's homeland last summer but he was never able to forge a regular place in coach Manuel Pellegrini's side, making just eleven starts. He will undergo a medical at Betis on Monday. Meanwhile, striker Francisco Maldonado has left the club on loan to join second division CG Tarragona. Also 26, the player made 15 league appearances for Betis last season.
