Bolton Wanderers FC could be without Kevin Davies for the UEFA Cup first round after the burly striker was ruled out for up to six weeks with a hamstring tear.
'Massive blow'
The 30-year-old suffered the injury during Saturday's 3-1 defeat by Newcastle United FC and faces a race against time to be fit for Bolton's UEFA Cup opener on 20 September. Manager Sammy Lee said: "Davo has suffered a slight tear in a hamstring and will be out for up to six weeks. It's obviously a massive blow as he's such an influential player in our team but it will give an opportunity for someone else to stake their claim." Meanwhile, Davies's fellow forward Ricardo Vaz Té is to undergo a scan on the foot he hurt in the Premier League opener.
