Lee takes leave of Bolton

UEFA Cup contenders Bolton Wanderers FC have parted company with manager Sammy Lee by mutual consent following a difficult start to the season.

UEFA Cup contenders Bolton Wanderers FC have parted company with manager Sammy Lee by mutual consent following a difficult start to the season.

Second from bottom
The 48-year-old former Liverpool FC player took over in April following the departure of Sam Allardyce, now manager at Newcastle United FC, under whom he had worked as assistant coach. However, while he led his side to the UEFA Cup group stage, things have not gone well in the Premier League with just one win all season leaving Bolton second last in the table.

'A difficult decision'
"This has been a difficult decision for all parties but we have agreed the time is right," Bolton chairman Phil Gartside said. "Our efforts will now be to look for a replacement manager to concentrate on the future." First-team coach Ricky Sbragia could now take temporary charge for Saturday's trip to Arsenal FC.
