Roma loss
The 29-year-old Romanian international sustained ligament damage during Sunday's 1-0 Serie A loss at AS Roma after a collision with opposition goalkeeper Doni. Mutu had to leave the field late in the first half and underwent tests on Monday morning to reveal the extent of the problem. Fiorentina coach Cesare Prandelli said: "Mutu's exit gave Roma a psychological advantage."
Everton tie
Mutu, the 2007 Romanian Player of the Year, has struck 14 goals in 21 Serie A games this season and has scored three more in the UEFA Cup. Fiorentina welcome Everton to Italy on 6 March and visit Goodison Park the following week.
