FC Zenit St. Petersburg received a blow ahead of their UEFA Cup quarter-final second leg against Bayer 04 Leverkusen after defender Nicolas Lombaerts tore knee ligaments in training, putting him out of action for at least six months.

Planned return
The 23-year-old Belgium defender had returned to light work following a less serious knee injury which he picked up in the Round of 32 second leg against Villarreal CF on 21 February. Lombaerts was due to return to full training this week, but will now not feature until the latter stages of the Premier-Liga season. Zenit host Leverkusen on Thursday holding a 4-1 advantage from the first leg.
