Sahar taken on by Portsmouth

Portsmouth FC have signed 18-year-old Israeli international Ben Sahar on a six-month loan from Chelsea FC as they prepare to make their European debut.

Loan move
The 18-year-old Israeli international joined Chelsea in 2006 but has made only five appearances for the club and last season had spells at Queen's Park Rangers FC and Sheffield Wednesday FC in England's second tier. His new sideĀ earned a UEFA Cup berth by winning the FA Cup, and Sahar told Portsmouth's website: "I've always wanted to be part of a Premier League team and I'm happy to be at Portsmouth. I've heard a lot of good things about [manager] Harry Redknapp, the club and the staff and they obviously had a very good season, so I'm happy to be here." Portsmouth, who begin their UEFA Cup campaign in the first round, have already strengthened this summer with the addition of experienced winger Glen Little from relegated Reading FC.
