Bielik brings experience to Dnipro

FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk have signed long-serving FC Shakhtar Donetsk forward Olexiy Bielik as they prepare for a UEFA Cup qualifier against AC Bellinzona.

The 27-year-old Ukrainian international has joined Dnipro on a three-year contract, ending a nine-season stay with Shakhtar. Dnipro are also expected to complete the transfer of Ukraine midfielder Maxym Kalynychenko from FC Spartak Moskva. Bielik, whose national-team career spans 19 games and five goals, won three Ukrainian championships and three Ukrainian Cups in Donetsk. His best season for the club was 2002/03 when he scored 21 times in 28 Premier League outings. Dnipro face Swiss side Bellinzona in the UEFA Cup second qualifying round on 14 and 28 August.
