Several suitors
The 22-year-old centre-back has penned a four-year deal with the south-coast club, who qualified for European competition by virtue of their FA Cup win last season. Kaboul, who was part of the France squad that won the 2005 UEFA European Under-19 Championship, joined Tottenham last year for around €12m from AJ Auxerre and scored three times in 21 Premier League appearances. "He's a player the manager set his sights on very early," Portsmouth assistant manager Joe Jordan told the club's website. "He's been looked at by a number of clubs, but he wanted to come to us." Portsmouth begin their maiden European campaign in the UEFA Cup first round, the draw for which takes place on 29 August.
