PSV interlude
The 26-year-old Väyrynen has returned to the club he left in 2005 for an undisclosed fee, agreeing a three-year contract at the Abe Lenstra Stadium. In three seasons at PSV, the midfielder made 29 league appearances, scoring twice, and was limited to just one substitute outing last term. He initially joined Heerenveen from FC Jokerit in 2001, scoring 17 goals in 100 league games. Väyrynen is now replacing VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach-bound Michael Bradley at his old club, who play Vitória FC In the UEFA Cup first round. PSV have also loaned Rens van Eijden, a 20-year-old defender, to Willem II, and midfielder Tommie van der Leegte to NAC. The 31-year-old former RKC Waalwijk, FC Twente, ADO Den Haag and VFL Wolfsburg player has signed a two-year contract with the option of a further 12 months.

Meanwhile, Twente have paid €2.5m for NAC's 24-year-old right-back Stam, who is leaving the club where he started his professional career after scoring four times in 121 Dutch league appearances. A one-time Feyenoord trainee, he replaces Luke Wilkshire following the Australian's switch to FC Dinamo Moskva. "We are very happy to add this young player to our squad," said Twente coach Steve McClaren, whose side meet Stade Rennais FC in the UEFA Cup first round. "He can play in defence and midfield. Ronnie Stam is the ideal player for us."
