Goalkeeper Rorys Aragon Espinoza has made a remarkable recovery from a hamstring injury and will be available for R. Standard de Liège's final UEFA Cup group game at VfB Stuttgart, having returned to action in the Belgian league at the weekend.
Official announcement
The club had announced that the 26-year-old would not be available until the new year after he picked up an injury in the 3-0 home win over UC Sampdoria last Wednesday. But three days later the Ecuadorian was back between the posts for the 2-1 home defeat against SV Zulte Waregem. "Espinoza was 100 per cent in the final training session before the game," said coach László Bölöni. "I contacted the doctors and they came and saw that he was training without any troubles. They didn't say that on the club's website? That is not my problem. I am only concerned with what happens on the pitch." Standard have won all three of their Group C games and are already sure of a last 32 place.
