Werder Bremen have taken midfielder José-Alex Ikeng on a short-term contract after the 20-year-old was released by VfB Stuttgart earlier this month.

Opportunity
Former German youth international Ikeng, who spent three and a half seasons with Stuttgart's reserves, will be given until the end of the campaign to earn himself a permanent deal at Bremen. Werder reserve-team coach Thomas Wolter said: "José-Alex is a very technical, skilful player and I'm delighted he has chosen to come here." Bremen will face AC Milan in the UEFA Cup Round of 32 after dropping out of the UEFA Champions League.
