R. Standard de Liège have signed Congolese-born striker Christian Benteke for an undisclosed fee, with the Belgian Under-19 international's contract at KRC Genk having been due to expire in the summer.

Back to Liege
Having signed goalkeeper Sinan Bolat from Genk earlier in the week, the UEFA Cup contenders raided their Belgian league rivals once more to acquire the 18-year-old Benteke, who has signed a contract committing him to Standard until June 2013. The 1.91m-tall striker, who was born in Kinshasa, started his career with Standard but left for Genk at the age of 16. He scored once in ten league games for Genk, who lie fourth in the Belgian table, two places below his new club. Standard meet SC Braga in the UEFA Cup Round of 32 after finishing top of Group C.
