Danish midfielder Daniel Jensen will miss the deciding leg of Werder Bremen's UEFA Cup Round of 16 tie against AS Saint-Etienne after undergoing surgery on Friday for a broken nose.
Nasty knock
The 29-year-old will be out of action for two weeks after being withdrawn 13 minutes into Thursday's night's 1-0 first-leg win over Les Verts, his nose having been broken in a collision with an opponent. Capped 41 times by his country, Jensen joined Bremen in 2004 following spells with SC Heerenveen and Real Murcia CF, and has played in ten Bundesliga games this season and six more in Europe. His colleagues will look to defend their slender advantage at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard next Wednesday.
