No party plans for Toulouse's Casanova

Coach Alain Casanova maintained that Toulouse FC's 3-1 play-off win at Trabzonspor was "not as easy as the scoreline suggests" with the French side on the verge of the UEFA Europa League group stage.

André-Pierre Gignac was the star of the show in Turkey, volleying home Toulouse's eleventh-minute opener and then hitting a second following Rigobert Song's equaliser. Fodé Mansaré's added-time strike saw Casanova's side secure their biggest European away win, eclipsing their only previous triumph – a 1-0 UEFA Cup first-round victory at Panionios GSS in September 1987.

'Small advantage'
"I'm satisfied," Casanova said. "I feel a lot of pride and enjoyed the match." However, in the greater scheme of things, the coach was not reading too much into the result. "A 3-1 win is just a small advantage," he said. "We still need a strong performance in the second leg to advance. It was not as easy as the scoreline suggests so nothing is decided yet."

'Doubt in our minds'
Trabzonspor hit the bar early on, but Gignac was pleased his side held their nerve – even after Song's equaliser. "We had an early scare when they shot against the crossbar, but we responded well," said Gignac, who has scored four goals in his last three games. "They put doubt in our minds again after they levelled but we came good after half-time."
