Stand-in replacement
Six successive defeats in the Bundesliga have seen the Berliners sink to the foot of the table, with Sunday's 5-1 loss at TSG 1899 Hoffenheim proving to be the final straw for the club, who dismissed the 51-year-old Favre on Monday. The former FC Zürich coach has been beset with injury problems this season after leading Hertha to a fourth-placed finish last term – his second at the club. Hertha kicked off their Group D campaign with a 1-1 draw against FK Ventspils, and the 54-year-old Heine – a former midfielder for 1. FC Union Berlin and Stahl Brandenburg who had been coaching the club's Under-23 side – will now lead them into their next tie in Lisbon on Thursday.
