Luca Toni will spend the rest of the season at AS Roma after the Serie A club reached an agreement with FC Bayern München to take the striker back to Italy on loan.

Medical passed
The 32-year-old successfully passed a medical on Wednesday and will start training with his new team-mates in the next few days ahead of the resumption of Roma's domestic campaign on 6 January. Bayern released the following statement: "By appearing regularly in Serie A, Luca Toni hopes to achieve his personal goal of appearing for Italy at the World Cup in South Africa. The club wishes to thank him for his contribution to the club's success during his spell in Munich and wishes him all the best with both Roma and Italy." Roma play Panathinaikos FC in the UEFA Europa League round of 32 on 18 and 25 February, while Bayern face Toni's former club ACF Fiorentina in the UEFA Champions League first knockout round on 17 February and 9 March.
