Sevilla goalkeeper Palop suffers calf injury

A calf injury will sideline Sevilla FC keeper Andrés Palop for two weeks, so Javi Varas is likely to make his first UEFA Europa League start of the season against FC Karpaty Lviv.

Sevilla FC will be deprived of goalkeeper Andrés Palop when they entertain FC Karpaty Lviv in the UEFA Europa League on 4 November as the 37-year-old nurses a calf strain.

Palop has been ever-present this season but now faces up to two weeks on the sidelines after fluid formed in his right calf muscle. Javi Varas, 28, is expected to deputise in the Spanish Liga and in the Group J game against the Ukrainian club.

Sevilla are second in the section after following an opening loss to Paris Saint-Germain FC with consecutive 1-0 victories away to Borussia Dortmund and Karpaty.
