Veteran Landzaat extends Twente deal

FC Twente have received a boost ahead of their last-16 decider at FC Zenit St Petersburg after Denny Landzaat followed Sander Boschker in signing a one-year contract extension.

Denny Landzaat has followed the lead of veteran goalkeeper Sander Boschker in signing a one-year contract extension with FC Twente.

The midfielder's new deal ties him to the Dutch champions until summer 2012 and comes 24 hours after the 40-year-old Boschker penned identical terms with the Tukkers. Landzaat, 34, joined Twente on a free transfer from Feyenoord last summer.

"We're having a good season and have a nice group of players," said Landzaat, a scorer in last week's 3-0 home victory against FC Zenit St Petersburg in the first leg of their UEFA Europa League round of 16 tie. "I feel good here and my family likes it in Enschede. It wasn't a hard choice to extend my contract."

Twente, a point behind leaders PSV Eindhoven in the Eredivisie, visit Zenit for the second leg on Thursday.
