UEFA Europa League contenders Real Betis Balompié have signed RC Recreativo de Huelva forward Chuli for a fee reportedly in the region of €600,000.
The 22-year-old – aka Manuel Jesús Vázquez Florido – moves to the Estadio Benito Villamarín on a four-year deal having spent the past two campaigns with Recreativo, where he scored 15 goals in 40 Spanish second division games.
"I am going to learn so much from the great professionals I will be surrounded by," said the former RCD Espanyol youth-teamer after his arrival at the Seville-based side. "It's a dream to know I'll be playing in Europe and in the Liga," he added.
Chuli teams up with fellow Betis new boys, Danish international goalkeeper Stephan Andersen and midfielders Juanfran and Lorenzo Reyes. The Verdiblancos – seventh in Spain last term – must negotiate a UEFA Europa League play-off in August to enter the group stage.
