Ciric is homeward bound

Dragan Ciric has become the latest player to join UEFA Cup qualifiers FK Partizan.

Previous spell
The 30-year-old began his career with Partizan in 1992, spending the next five years at the club, before moving to FC Barcelona. After a brief spell at AEK Athens FC, Ciric returned to Spain in 2000 joining Real Valladolid CF, but he was never able to claim a regular place in the starting lineup at the Nuevo José Zorrilla stadium.

'Partizan is my club'
"After five years away, I know what's best for me," the former Partizan captain said, "I must play. And Partizan is my club. Before my professional contract, I spent three years in the youth set-up so I know everything and everybody." Ciric will be reacquainted with fellow midfielder Ivan Tomic who returned to the club in May and whom Ciric played alongside during his earlier spell.

UEFA Cup ambitions
Indeed, Ciric is the fourth midfield player that coach Vladimir Petrovic has signed in the last month after securing the services of promising FK Zeta midfield duo, Nenad Brnovic and Branimir Petrovic on Wednesday, as he prepares for next season's UEFA Cup campaign. Ciric has no doubt that this is Partizan's target for next season. "I'm now in my golden years when I can make the biggest impact, so the UEFA Cup is our priority," Ciric said.

Starlet signs
Partizan have also agreed a four-year deal with the promising 18-year-old youth team striker Nebojsa Marinkovic.
