Almeyda facing five weeks out

FC Internazionale's Matias Almeyda has a thigh injury that makes him a doubt for the UEFA Cup third round.

FC Internazionale midfield player Matias Almeyda will be out of action for about five weeks after straining a muscle in his left thigh during the first half of the Coppa Italia match against Udinese Calcio on Wednesday.

European test
Almeyda underwent tests on Thursday that confirmed the extent of the injury. The 30-year-old Argentinan international is likely to miss the trip to French side FC Sochaux-Montbéliard for the first leg of the UEFA Cup third round on 26 February. The return leg is scheduled for one week later at the San Siro.

Semi-final date
Inter, who are fourth in Serie A and eleven points behind leaders AS Roma, defeated Udinese 3-1 on aggregate and will face Juventus FC in the Coppa Italia semi-final.
