Gençlerbirligi SK defender Deniz Baris is hoping for more European success after extending his stay until 2006.
The 26-year-old joined the Ankara club in summer 2002 from German side FC St. Pauli, where he had spent three seasons. He said: "Gençlerbirligi and I have targets, I want to reach those targets while keeping my consistent form. Our team deserves to be in a better position in the league but our success in Europe is obvious. I hope we will get better."
Capped eight times by his country, Deniz has enjoyed a fantastic year including representing Turkey at the FIFA Confederations Cup in the summer. He also helped his club reach the UEFA Cup third round, where they will play Parma AC in the new year.
