Defender Petter Hansson has left Swedish first division strugglers Halmstads BK to join Netherlands club SC Heerenveen on a four-year contract.
Selakovic link
The Halmstads captain, capped once for Sweden, leaves a side just one point off the bottom of the table to link up with former team-mate Stefan Selakovic at the Eredivisie team.
'Like a family'
"I have spoken to Stefan and he is very positive about the club," Hansson said of Heerenveen. "The club seems to be like a family." Heerenveen earned a 2002/03 UEFA Cup place by finishing fourth in the Eredivisie last season, fielding several Swedes including Marcus Allbäck, who has now joined Aston Villa FC, Erik Edman and Selakovic.
International return hint
Heerenveen financial director Henk Hoekstra said: "We are certain that Petter will make an impact and I wouldn't be surprised if he soon played for the Swedish national side again."
